Halloween Cupcakes

I like…

I need to decide which ones to make for our Halloween Spookwalk tomorrow but I love them all.  It is paralyzingly stressful.  Life is full of too many choices.  And that is my dilemma for the day.

Haunted Mansions

Look what we made with Sarah, Piper and Dax.  So cute!

I will now proceed to save you $478 per year.

Say "goodbye" to overpriced precanned soup and "hello" to a cold hard cash.

Say goodbye to overpriced precanned soup and smell the sweet scent of cold hard cash.

I got this recipe for homemade cream of chicken soup a while back.  I never tried it because when things sound too good to be true, they usually are (Trevor Chapman is the exception).  Well, I needed a said can of cream of chicken soup, yet had none on hand.  So out came this recipe.

I tried it and I will NEVER go back.  It tastes incredible and costs but pennies to make.  I used to spend $1.08 per can of cream of chicken soup and bought them by the caseload.  I am now going to spend $0.07 per can using the dry mix instead.  I have died and gone to heaven.  I am now going to use my savings to expand my shoe collection.  Sometimes miracle creams DO work!

Substitute Cream of Chicken Soup Mix

Mix all ingredients
Store in an airtight container
For the equivalent to 1 can of cream soup, mix 1/3 cup of dry mix to 1 1/3 cups of cold water. Cook in sauce pan until thick.  Makes the equivalent of nine cans of cream soup.
Am I your new hero?

Great Pumpkin Extravaganza. It was CRAZY!

For FHE last Monday we wanted to have a pumpkin carving contest with some of our friends.  Sarah T, however, had to have major surgery on her mouth so we rescheduled for the following Monday.  A few days before the event I realized that that Monday was Jace’s birthday!  I had no intention of throwing a party for him so this was just an accident.  In fact, I didn’t even tell anyone it was his birthday and proceeded as if it were just a get together, but they are geniuses and somehow found out and brought him gifts anyway.  We have really sweet friends.

Great Value Sugar Cookie Recipe

Wow!  We have gotten so many requests for the Great Value Sugar Cookie recipe I blogged about the other day that I decided to just post it here for you all.  It’s delicious!

  • 1 C Sugar
  • 1 C Butter
  • 3 Tablespoon Milk
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 C Flour
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
Cream all the wet ingredients then add the dry ingredients and mix until completely combined
Chill for 1 hour to make dough easier to handle
Roll out 1/4″ thick
Cook for 5-9 minutes at 400 degrees F
Take them off when the edges just begin to get golden– they might appear undercooked but they will continue cooking once removed from the oven.  DON’T overcook them.
Enjoy!
