I can not believe that we have had Jace for a whole year now! It was so cute yesterday when we awoke and it was his birthday. He always wakes up right when we do, and he blinks his eyes, raises his short little arms above his head, and stretches his tiny body like a cat and then rolls over and starts kissing us. Well, this morning he did his routine and we snuggled him and sang happy birthday to him and he just started smiling and laughing and rolling all over with glee because he could tell it was his special day. It was adorable! Anyway, we went to Wal-Mart to get presents for him and then we went to the hospital where he was born and filmed inside the room he came into the world in. It was SO neat to be there exactly one year later seeing the exact bed, exact incubator thingie, the exact EVERYTHING. It was really neat. So we filmed there for awhile and then we went home, got into some warm clothes, and then drove to Pleasant Grove to go to the Cornevil Corn Maze. It is a haunted corn maze and it was SOOOOO scary. I had gone to a haunted maze in St. George and it was no big deal at all, so that is what I was thinking this would be. No way. I about died. The whole time I was just running frantically trying to find the exit. Oh man.

Happy Birthday Jace! We’re going to upload pictures and video shortly. Until then, enjoy this post that Caci wrote.
Caci’s Post: Trevor gave the brief rundown on skydiving but I will give the play by play details. Trevor has always been obsessed with flying. His greatest desire is to be able to fly like the birds and in fact he was so irritated at his mom for the longest time for not naming him “Superman” because had she only named him Superman he would have been able to fly. Oh the ideas of a 5 year old. Anyway, for his 24th birthday I was going to surprise him by taking him skydiving! I had the reservations and everything set up, and I was going to keep it a secret and just get him in the car after class, take him up to Salt Lake, and then get out at the airport (where the skydiving reservations were) and surprise him. Well, I could NOT keep the secret because I was SOOOOOOO excited. I finally had to tell him like 3 days before the jump. He was SOOOO excited! I told him the big news and he fell to his knees and couldn’t breathe; he was SOOOO excited!
Skydiving: We jumped around for about an hour with anxiety and excitement and then Trevor was just EXCITED!!! He could not wait and I was so excited for him to go, but I was TERRIFIED for when I was going to go in the future (I knew that he would want us to go together in the future after he went). Anyway, the day finally came; we woke up early, got ready, and then packed into the car to make our way to Salt Lake for the jump. I was in high heels and everything and was just SOOOOOO excited and terrified for Trevor to go. After about 30 minutes of driving Trevor was like, “OK—I have to tell you. I called them up yesterday and reserved a spot for you, too!!!!!” I thought he was kidding so I was like, “Yeah right.” But he wasn’t. I about DIED! I had had NO mental preparation for this and I was wearing high heels! I about killed him!!!!!!!! I was freaking out and seriously about to cry. He tried to convince me for the next 45 minutes and finally I embraced the fact that I was going to be jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet above the ground.

Major Updates: We are putting up post 116 because we have a few exciting things for you to look at.

- We just needed to comment on Jace’s phenomenal advancement. One night, he fell asleep a baby, the next morning he woke a toddler. Wow.
Skydiving Summary: [Trevor] I have two words to describe it:
liberating & exhilarating. I also have two words to describe my relationship with it: I’m addicted. Guys, it was absolutely amazing. I recommend it to everyone. It is one of those life experience you need to have–if not just once. Falling from 13,000 ft to earth is awesome! Gravity rules!
- We jumped from 13,000 ft above ground level.
- Trevor was in free-fall for ~ 70 seconds.
- Caci was in free-fall for ~ 60 seconds.
When you jump from the plane and, essentially, fall to earth, it becomes very peaceful. I looked down, I looked around. I watched the horizon line, I watched the little buildings grow life-size. Nothing but peace and liberation surged through my blood. In fact, I didn’t even attempt victory shouts until I landed–it was too pure. You, the element and exposure. At that moment, you are supremely self-sufficient. Everything you need to not only to survive but thrive is on your back.
Now, I look up–I see the sky. I was there. I’ve been with you. I beat you. I flew with you. Awesome.

The Birth of our iPhone: Seeing how, eventually, you all will have iPhones, I wanted to toss in a moment of excitement captured on-screen.
In an attempt to keep my cell number somewhat private, I’m including it as follows.

Post in a Nutshell: I had a great birthday! Caci made it very special. Each birthday gets better. Thats good,
because I’m only getting older. I’m now 24, ouch! The best time of the year is the three weeks that Caci and I are the same age. That paradise only lasts for so long, then I walk out in front and pave the next year for her to follow. One week and Jace will be one week old. We have new photos up in our gallery. By the way, if you have photos that are similar to any of our albums, you may upload them to our gallery–there is a button.
My Birthday in Review: It was awesome. I’ll briefly go point by point.
- Caci woke me up with a hot breakfast, its tradition. We ate german pancakes.
- Caci presented me with one of my presents…an iPhone! I’ve waited over six months for one. My iPhone review will be listed later.
- We took off to a destination unknown by me–it turned out to be Hogle Zoo. For the first five years of my life, we lived at student family housing at University of Utah. Almost daily my mom would load me into the red wagon and we’d go look at the monkeys, giraffes, elephants, etc. I was so happy to revisit that place. I have to say that it was very surreal to stand with my son and wife where my parents stood with me twenty years earlier.
- After Hogle Zoo we visited the apartment that I spent those first few years in. Wow.
- We then went and ate at “The Pie,” a college pizza joint that serves gourmet pizza.
- What a day! I had a blast, Caci had a blast and Jace was good, so it could not be topped. Thank you Caci and Jace! One other thing, on Tuesday be sure to “jump” on our blog to check out the last present of my birthday. All I can say is it has been one of my wants for my whole life. Heres a hint: Its a bird, its a plane…
School Summary: I got an A+ on my philosophy proof/one-page paper. My instructor says, “If you can write one page perfectly, then you should, in theory, be able to write twenty pages perfectly.” Download my proof (I do not subscribe to this belief, but I wanted to explore it more): Phil Paper II.
iPhone Review: Simply amazing! Can it be put any simpler? As a connoisseur of fine
gadgets, I must say that the iPhone is truly revolutionary. The user interface is very intuitive and beautiful.
- Every single application was created to perfection. Each application has beautiful animation that adds, does not detract or subtract.
- Every application has a very real use. There is no wasted code.
- Absolutely stylish.

Closing: Despite all the happiness, we are still sick. Ugh. One last thing I forgot to add earlier, we got some Gold’s Gym passes! They have childcare included so it’ll be a daily date much needed. Caci’s Birthday Review: My birthday was so much fun! It is always a little sad to grow older but fun because Trevor and I get to be the same age for three weeks before he goes on to the next year. This year was super fun. Trevor does NOT like to get up early unless it is absolutely necessary, so when I woke up at 8:00 am and he wasn’t there I felt extremely special that I was about the only thing that year that had got him out of bed before 9:00. I thought he had run to the store to get stuff for a birthday breakfast or something so I didn’t want to spoil it by getting up so I laid there and laid there and laid there. Finally, after about an hour and a half, I was just too excited for my birthday to lie there any longer so I got up and started getting ready for the day. About 20 minutes later Trevor knocked on the bathroom door and offered to take Jace from me so I could get ready in peace. I finished getting ready and then stepped out of the bathroom into the front room and there were three of the most beautiful flower arrangements EVER! They were absolutely GORGEOUS! There was a bouquet of roses in the middle vase and then in the two flanking shallow vases were beautiful arrangements of lilies, moss, and some other types of flowers I don’t know. They were breathtaking.

Summary: After a week of sickness, we’re back up and running (mostly, anyway). All three of us caught a nasty cold and Jace & Caci fell to pink eye (Caci had pink eyes)–possibly the worst infliction that Caci can fathom. At least when you’re sick you can still run around daintily and look pretty. UPDATE: 10.17.07 Trevor has pink-eye.

Week in Review: We have had a slow week with little happening. Major events listed below.
- General Conference; we had a great time. Both families came up to spend it with us and Brooke with friends came down.
- Sick, sick, sick. Yeah, that sums up our week.
- I got Caci a book that I very much enjoyed in high school. More on this below.
- We hit over 13,000 page views this week on our blog. A good milestone for a family blog of 2 1/2 years. That is 14.25 unique views a day. Our best day had 49 views (not including our own).
- Today we found a large tank (35 gallons) for $10.00. So, we have moved Alex (our honeymoon turtle from Thessaloníki, Greece) to his new home. Pictures coming soon.

Book for Caci: From time to time I’ve mentioned to Caci a book that I’ve read multiple times. I read it mainly during high school. Its a short book with a great story; in fact, Caci finished it in just a couple of hours after I bought it for her. I’m sure many of you have read it. Its called Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I’ll leave it to her for a brief book review.

Politics @ the ‘Y’: Its pretty amazing to see the strong support that
Ron Paul has here at BYU. You’d think that it would be predominately pro-Romney. Though, I am sure, there are many Romney supporters, its the pro-Paul activists that are seen. We see their posters near campus, stickers on campus, shirts on campus and around campus. Its quite an interesting phenomenon. What Paul has done is really amazing, almost purely become popular via a grassroots program and he’s done great on the internet through a killer amount of social networking sites like youTube, Twitter, justin.TV, facebook and many others. Most of my classmates with whom I’ve spoken about the ‘08 election are Ron Paul supporters. It makes you think.
Halo III Exploits:

Synopsis: We’ve had a great week! For those of you who don’t like to read read read, here is a brief bit with the significant events of late.
- Most important of all: Caci turned 23! What a big age for a little lady!
- Second to that news, we had my good buddy Kostya move down here to Provo. He’ll be staying with us for another week or so then move into an apartment.
- School continues to be going well. I’ve had multiple tests–all of which ended in victory.
- Caci’s family and my family will be arriving shortly for the weekend to attend general conference with us.

- Jace’s birthday is coming on the 27th and mine on the 18th.

We’ve been up in the canyon twice now. Its an awesome experience to be among the changing colors. I’ll add a few photos here.
