Blog #103 Goodbye(s)

Today I took the first of my last two finals! Later on tonight I’ll take grand numba two. Caci is going to write an update…until then, enjoy some photos of us at Grandma & Grandpa’s house.

We have decided that our boys will be boys and our girls will be girls… so from a young age we will drill this into their heads:

Are we brainwashing our kids? Oh yeah! Most people could use a good brain scrubbing/brain washing these days. Justin, you’ll have to show this to your gender-neutral professor.

Caci…take it away girl.

Blog #102 Finishing Up Here…Moving There

School is almost over–prepping for the summer. This semester has really banged me up well. I’ve been pulled so many different directions with family, church, work and school that taking a break from one will definitely be welcomed and celebrated.

Caci and I have been mulling over the thought of going to Russia next winter semester to start/finish her ethnography.

I am starting a new “post” in the “forum” where we can record the latest books we’ve read (“we’ve” meaning all of us) and discuss them. I think it will be fun, enlightening and allow for the discovery of new literature. I’ll also put a post in there to review movies. Dad Suttner, no matter how many times you watch a movie in a row, you are only allowed to review it once.

Julia, we will have a new movie up for you very soon! There will be FIRE in this new movie!

Well thats all folks. An update to this post will come soon. Off to move more stuff from this house to storage. Peace.

Blog #101 First Part of April

Classes are over!  The last day of classes was yesterday and now Trevor will start on finals.  Things are crazy for Trevor with finishing up finals, getting all loose ends tied up with work, and getting things ready for California.  We are trying to sell our car so if you know anyone who wants one, we have one for $1,200!

The weather has been strange here in Provo, as well.  It was really sunny for most of last week so we took the top off the Jeep.  However, that night the weather turned and we had a torrential downpour filling the entire jeep with at least 4” of water; it was horrible!  So, we took it to the car detailing place and they detailed it for us and fixed it right up!  They had to take all the carpets out, vacuum out all the water, put down a mold neutralizer, and then do the conventional detailing  It was a lot of work but  it looks brand new again!

Jace is so strong and developing so quickly!  He now weighs 16 lbs and is 28 inches long!  At his birth he was 6 lbs. 12 oz. and 18.5 inches long; he is growing like a weed!  He also can now do sit ups completely and he can scoot himself all around the floor on his belly.  It is sad when he tries to crawl because he hasn’t figured out the concept of holding his head up as he crawls so he just grinds his face into the  carpet and then starts crying.  If he could just hold that head up he would be crawling like a pro!

We discovered a fun new place last week called “Pudding on the Rice”.  We always drive past it and finally decided to stop and check it out.  It is super cool and very European.  It is like an ice cream parlor but instead of ice cream they just have various flavors of rice pudding!  Jace loved it almost as much as he loves ice cream.

Jini received her endowment on Saturday so mom and dad came up to go through the temple with her.  Trevor and I couldn’t go because she did it in the SLC temple so we would have had to have a babysitter for Jace for at least 6 hours which was a huge bummer.  Trevor received his endowment in the SLC temple but I have never been there so I really wanted to go!  Jini had an excellent experience and cried as soon as she entered the temple and didn’t stop until she exited again.  Afterward they went to a German restaurant and brought some food back for us.  I bet Jini is going to come back skin and bones; German food is gross!  Afterwards, we went to Cold Stone and then the family left.

We rented a storage shed and picked up a trailer from the shop so we will be moving all of our stuff out the next couple days and then finish up on the 25th.  WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  SUN, BEACH, AND LA!!!!  We can’t WAIT!

TREVOR: Hey everyone who reads our blog (Jonas and Dohnele)! We are looking forward to California like no other!

School, work and play(?) are all going fairly well. See you soon. Check out our new photo album. A new “Life In 60” is coming soon.

Blog #99 General Conf. @ Bryce & Other Dates

Friday we decided to go up to Thanksgiving Point for our weekend date.  As we were approaching we saw the billboard for “The Planet Aquarium” which is this HUMUNGOUS aquarium that we have wanted to go to.  So, we decided to do Thanksgiving Point another night and go on up to South Jordan to see the aquarium.  However, by the time we got there it was 8:00 and it closes at 8:00!!  So we were so sad, but decided to head back for some fun at The Point.  By the time we got there, though, it was 8:45 and everything closes at 9:00 there!  Time was just against us that day!  However, the ice cream parlor at Thanksgiving Point doesn’t close until 9:30 so we got a fabulous banana split.  It was delicious and Jace would agree.  It was so cute because we sat at the bar and propped Jace up against the back of the cash register with two napkin holders to hold him up.  We then spent the rest of the time feeding him bits of ice cream and it was HILARIOUS!  He LOVED it!  He entertained the entire parlor with his charm.

The next day we woke up super early and got on the road for a camping trip in Bryce Canyon.  It was the anniversary of our 2 year meeting (we met during the April conference of 2005) and our $1,200 speeding ticket on the way to Zions.  Well, as luck would have it, the Southern Utah Police Department celebrated our anniversary by yet again pulling us over. The temporary license on the Jeep was ripped off so the cop pulled us over.  We were terrified Trevor was going to be thrown in jail for his outstanding ticket (for $1,300) he had in California.  However, the cop was nice, or else the California ticketing information doesn’t carry over to Utah, and he let us off with a warning—hallelujah!!!

On our way down to Bryce we were passing Beaver and I had an urge for squeaky cheese so Trevor quickly exited but we didn’t know how to get to the factory or if it was even the right exit so Trevor pulled up next to this guy on the side of the road and in the slowest, most ridiculous, eastern Utah accent he said, “Essscuse meeee ser but der yew know where ta git any of dat der squeeker, uh… squeekin cheese?”  The guy looked at him SO annoyed and said in the most proper English, “No.  I am not from around here.”  It was SOOOOO funny and I was SOOOO embarrassed!  Anyway, we drove up to Bryce Canyon and we passed through that place right before the canyon called Red Canyon or something like that and it was GORGEOUS and then we continued on to Bryce Canyon.  Well, the sun was going down quickly and we needed to set up camp.  We drove around Bryce Canyon but were so unimpressed because all it was was thousands of trees.  We were flabbergasted as to how this place had become a National Forest.  We decided to go back to the Red Canyon before the entrance to Bryce and camp there because it was way more pretty.

We went back and set up camp before the sun set and then Trevor made the most incredible fire in the world!  He made it with a single match and just some rocks and sticks he found; I was amazed!  The next morning we listened to conference at the top of the mountain and that was really really cool.  After conference Trevor said, “Well, do you want to head home or do you want to check out Bryce Canyon again?”  I said I was very unimpressed with Bryce Canyon so I would be fine if we went home.   We were about to head home when we decided to just take another look.  Well, we went in and asked the Park Ranger the top three places to see; she said Sunset Point, Inspiration, and Bryce Point.  We decided to quickly look at them and then be on our way because it was so ridiculous to just look at thousands of trees.  Well, we drove up to Sunset Point, hopped out of the car not expecting to be impressed, went to the look out and then gasped; it was an absolutely gorgeous orange canyon!  We had no idea!  It was magnificent!  We spent the rest of the time exploring all of the sites and were awe struck by every one.  We were so happy we didn’t just head home thinking Bryce Canyon was just a bunch of pine trees!

Jace had a great time getting trucked around in his baby backpack.  That is one of the best purchases we have ever made; it is so convenient!  We listened to the last session of conference on the drive home.  The weekend was great and we are SOOOO sad that we didn’t get a single picture of the camping trip because our battery was dead, dog gone it!
