California!

Whew! What a week! We have been moving and packing and moving and packing and are finally in our apartment for the next 4 months. I will quickly recap the events of the past couple of days. Trevor and I stayed up ALL night on Tuesday and headed out at 6:00am Wednesday. We were ready to leave at 4:00 but we had one last load to put in our storage shed. We got there at 4:30am and found that the gates won’t open until 6:00 am. SO we parked outside and slept in the car until they opened, unloaded the stuff in 5 minutes and then hit the road. I was really worried Trevor would fall asleep at the wheel since he had spent the entire day and night packing and had gotten no sleep. I slept a little on the way down to St. George. We planned on sleeping in St. George at the house for a couple hours, but then we decided to just push on through. We talked to Mom and Dad for about 2 hours and then drove on. We arrived in Ventura at 11:00pm that day. It was a VERY long drive. We didn’t realize it was so much further from Riverside. Anyway, we got there and stayed the night with one of the Clark Pest Control guys and then moved into our apartment the next morning. We got everything in and unpacked, the pictures on the wall and EVERYTHING when the team leader told us that we could take the 2 bedroom apartment if we wanted it. Well, of course we did so we packed everything BACK up and moved it all over to the new apartment and unpacked it all again. PHEW! SO MUCH PACKING! Finally we are in our apartment and it is SOOOOOO NICE!!!! We LOVE it!!! We have 3 balconies, 2 huge bedrooms, and it is just really really really nice. Clark Pest Control furnished it with VERY nice furniture and we even got a KING SIZE BED! They gave us the best of everything and we are just so excited! We went down to the beach yesterday to check it out. It is 7 minutes from our house (with traffic– without traffic it would be like 4 minutes). Everyone here is really nice and the community is SUPER nice. It is a bunch of nice white rich people. It is very different from Riverside from last year. We will take pictures and show everyone what’s up. Oh yeah and we have 2 pools, 3 hot tubs, 6 laundry rooms, a weight room, EVERYTHING! We are in paradise!!!! This is going to be the best summer EVER!!!! Anyone is welcome to come out and visit whenever they want. The ocean is cold right now, but in about a month it should be great! Come visit everyone!

Does Life Get Any Better?

HOORAY!!!!!!! Today was the awesomest day EVER. Trevor and I have been so stressed about completing finals and moving these past three days. So stressed, in fact, that I have developed an enormous cold sore that takes up the bottom half of my face (but that’s beside the point). We were supposed to have everything completed so we could leave Sunday after the baby blessing (Colling’s baby’s blessing), but low and behold, there was no baby blessing. So, then we decided to hurry and get everything packed and finals done so we could move on Monday. We stayed up all day Sunday getting everything done but alas it was not enough. Then Monday came and we continued to write papers, pack and clean. Finally we decided that we were going to have to move Tuesday. Well, needless to say, we have been EXHAUSTED, and since we packed our bed on Sunday, we have been sleeping on the cold hard ground for the past two day.

We decided to make the most out of a bad situation and turned our thoughts to the ultrasound that we would be able to go to since we were staying until Tuesday. We woke up this morning absolutely exhausted form all the packing (oh and some appliance in our house decided to malfunction and make a shrill alarm-like beep every 2 minutes. It was driving Trevor CRAZY. He tore apart every appliance in the house – including the doorbell, fridge, and smoke alarm—trying to find the source of the noise. He could not locate it and spent the rest of the night at the mercy of the beep) we received NO sleep with those two factors combined. We got up at 7:45 am to go to our 8:30 am appointment. I called the hospital ahead to make sure everything was on schedule and soon learned that no one had scheduled us. I was transferred from place to place to place until finally I gave up. Well, at 8:50am the hospital called and said that they had messed up and we did indeed have an appointment but that it had passed now and so we couldn’t go to it. That, on top of everything else, was almost too much. Trevor took control of the situation and told them that we were going to get that ultrasound this morning if we had to sit outside the doors with big red picket signs. They heeded his threats, and that is when a horrible three days didn’t matter anymore because…. WE GOT TO SEE OUR BABY!!!

And WE KNOW THE GENDER!

What do you think it is?

Our Baby Speaks!

Here is the of our new little baby! It is SO awesome we are so EXCITED! Isn’t it Awesome! We were sitting in the clinic and she pulled out the doppler. We were thrilled. It took her about four minutes to find it (during which time Caci started stress that maybe there was no baby). Once she found it, I heard my little son - he was saying, “Hey Dad! I’m Here! Can’t wait to go hiking!” He is so intelligent already! - Trevor

Lia’s Perfect Baby

Well, now that Lia’s baby is here, we can start to see if Ellie truly is the “Perfect Baby” that Lia designed at her baby shower. This is what Lia said would be perfect: If the baby had…

Lia’s eyes, notes, stomach, hands, singing voice, musical abilities, dancing skills, coordination, laugh, work ethic, and personality.

Justin’s hair, lips, teeth, smile, calves, ankles, intelligence, athletic skills, bodily odor, sense of humor, temperament, and peacemaking skills.

Let’s see how close Ellie comes!

Hey ~ This is Trevor taking over now with a brief Easter update:
Friday: Tried to get into the play, “Arsenic and White Lace.” Unfortunately, ALL SOLD OUT. So, instead, we opted for a less cultured Friday and took off to “The Best of Divine Comedy,” which turned out to be hilarious. The highlight, however, was not found in The Best or Comedy, it was found in the Divine part. What do I mean?
Story: They had tonnes of the glow sticks that they were throwing to all audience members. Naturally, at the beginning of the program people were fighting for them. At the intermission the building was so full of these glow sticks that people were tossing them around like Kinsi throwing shoes into that tree - everyone was tossing them around, everyone except Trevor. See he was avidly trying to obtain just one of those neat glowing things. In between each small act they would chuck a couple hundred or so, and, being near the front, they would always fly over our heads. Once the people saw that they were neglecting us front row sitters they starting throwing them up close. STILL, they threw them to everybody surrounding us, but none came to us. Trevor took up running up and down the aisles in between acts hopeing to grab one. He had almost given up hope when, out of no where, in the midst of an act, straight from backstage, a single - beautiful glow stick was thrown, twirling — as it were — in slow-mo through the air. It flew from one side of the room - clear to the other and landed in Trevor’s folded arms! Ta -Daa!

Saturday: Celebrated Easter with Suttners.
Sunday: Attended church - laid on grass - enjoyed Easter.

Baby’s Heartbeat!

ATTENTION: The picture above is not of our baby, but it is of a 12 week fetus, and all those little sweet potatos look the same, so just pretend it is ours. I had my first thorough exam today. They found that I am indeed 12 weeks pregnant (pictured is my 12 months belly right before we went to the doctor today) and healthy as a horse. The most exciting thing was when we heard the baby’s heart beat!!!!! It was SO awesome!! We have been a little worried because my belly isn’t big, and I haven’t been sick, so we have been wondering if I truly am pregnant. Then, when the nurse was checking for the baby’s heart beat, she moved it around forever and could not find a heart beat. So we were getting nervous thinking that I never was pregnant when all of a sudden a big strong heartbeat sounded through!!! IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!! Trevor recorded it so we just listened to it over and over on our drive home. It was so so so awesome! So everything is just perfect and I get my first ultrasound this Tuesday. We get it for free because Utah Valley Medical Center is trying to certify for first trimester ultrasounds. I will be beginning my 14th week on Tuesday but they are letting us do it anyway. We found out that I am going to have to get the RH shot on the 28th week so my blood doesn’t attack the baby, but other than that, the pregnancy is perfect and the baby is doing great! Hearing the heartbeat was AWESOME!!!!!!!

Hello to the new bouncing baby… GIRL!

Well, it’s finally here!!! Lia went into labor at 1:30 this morning and then delivered at 4:59pm. Everyone was extremely surprised to see the little baby boy– who turned out to be a girl!!!! We thought she was a boy the WHOLE time! She looks EXACTLY like Julia and is so pretty!!! We were all so excited! Mom is up for the weekend to help Lia out. They got Julia a little baby to take care of so she can be a little mommy, too. The baby was 8.8 lbs and 20 inches long. Any winners? Looks like Trevor and Dad, who both said “girl” to be obstinate really knew what they were talking about! A couple people guessed April 6th right– any winners?
